street scene, school on right
Polaroid is out of the instant picture business. A group in France wouldn’t let it RIP, so now there’s Poladroid, a freeware program that distorts/develops a photos before your eyes. Cutesie, yes, and aficionados will hate it, but it’s a few minutes of fun for the rest of us. By the way, you know that the Land Camera was named after its inventor, Edwin Land, not after where it was supposed to be used?
I can’t believe they went out of business. When I was a kid that was the biggest thing.
Polaroids were fun, but at $1 a picture, it was hard to be spontaneous. Back in the day that was a lotta moola!
My father still has an old Polaroid camera somewhere. Even without films to play with it, it is still a nice object (it is white with a red button – I think that’s the one).
