Last week the NY Times informed us that many cities worldwide take the position that the health benefits of riding a bicycle without a helmet outweigh not riding at all. Brooklyn and the rest of NYC fall into the category of “getting more bike-friendly” – it’s pretty safe now and getting better.

This pine is next to Prospect Park’s horse ring, or what’s left of it. The fences are gone, but a dusty oval remains. Riders from the Caton stables still come here.
