Getting in the Halloween spirit with a giant lucha libre mask in the paper store’s window. For some, Mexican wrestling combines the best possible things: men in tights, brawling, and colorful masks, which make it seem more fun and less contrived than wrestling in the US.

One more day of street fair pictures… wandering down the crowded avenue perusing the vendors’ stalls, eating and drinking. When everyone is getting along (i.e., not getting rowdy), the police look the other way when people with beers wander outside of the areas that the bars set aside for their patrons.

The late afternoon sun bounces off the correctional facility and what might be the borough’s longest street name, when it’s hyphenated like that: Boerum Place – Brooklyn Bridge Boulevard.

There’s a large dirt lot here ready to receive cars, but the painting of a flower on a plywood panel reminds me of the other meaning of park. Prospect Park is about a mile and a half away from this intersection. Serious park greenery awaits.

61 Local is a bar, but don’t take your dog there. The rule, generally, in Brooklyn, is that it’s okay to bring babies and kids to bars, especially during the day, but dogs are not allowed unless you sit at a sidewalk table. The Department of Health may have a completely other set of rules on the topic.
