The building by Borough Hall is being re-habbed. We’ll have to wait and see what that means. The exterior still looks the same; it’s not easy to update these old office buildings that are found in downtown Brooklyn.

Decorations for St. Patrick’s Day will stay up this week because shamrocks add color, and it’s a neutral day compared to Easter and Passover. I also like pictures of people walking in a line for no reason.

Angels and pigeons in front of the court building. I like to isolate parts of the creche scene. The birds keep a safe distance until food appears.

The cafe tables and chairs are a welcome addition to the area the in front of Borough Hall. The area has pedestrian traffic, but has a way of looking drab no matter how it gets dressed up.

When there’s an important announcement, like what the Brooklyn Nets’ line-up will be, the steps of Borough Hall are a perfect setting. On this day, Borough Hall is looking, to me, like a college campus. No one, not even a lawyer, should have to wear a suit when it’s above 90 degrees, though.

That man needs to loosen the tie and be happy he’s wearing an anti-hipster hat and that it’s the end of the work week.

The nativity figures near the downtown courthouse are old-style, but in good condition. The heavy white string holding up the angel looks borrowed from a school play, though. Ironically, we expect our plastic figures in midair to give the illusion that they are really flying.

Readers, writers, publishers, food trucks, readings, and discussions. Big crowds, too – there’s no other event like this in the city – I think you could call it a success.

When they added the link to the R Train (at Lawrence St.) at the F and A Jay Street subway stop, they changed the stop’s name slightly. Now it’s Jay Street Metrotech, not Jay Street Borough Hall. It’s true that Borough Hall is closer to the Court Street stop on the R Train. Did you get all that?

This scene is brought to you by the Catholic lawyers of Brooklyn. It’s curious that the baby Jesus, with his big head and receding hairline, looks like a miniature middle-aged attorney.
