The building by Borough Hall is being re-habbed. We’ll have to wait and see what that means. The exterior still looks the same; it’s not easy to update these old office buildings that are found in downtown Brooklyn.

Brooklyn has tourists! They are looking at a big metal sidewalk map and the buildings on Court Street. Those of us who live here full-time are not moved by the architecture; we are more concerned with the spring weather. One minute it’s hot, the next it’s chilly.

Decorations for St. Patrick’s Day will stay up this week because shamrocks add color, and it’s a neutral day compared to Easter and Passover. I also like pictures of people walking in a line for no reason.

This picture looked old-timey, which induced a moment of pre-nostalgia. Look at the vitamin store. In ten years I don’t think there will be many places called Shoppe around.

I’m not counting the roses by the fountain. What we need are some colorful annuals. The grass is looking lush and green, after a few days of rain, in any case. I think a little patience is called for. We will see flowers eventually.

The Borough Hall Christmas tree was decorated yesterday. It was a gray morning and the process was without fanfare. The Charlie Brown Christmas Special has led me to expect a moment of reflection when the star is placed atop the tree and a Vince Guaraldi soundtrack, though I know this is unrealistic. Note the mini menorah – there’s a larger one closer to the courthouse.
