People are sitting out on Fourth Avenue and enjoying the weather. For real. The busy thoroughfare has, in spots, turned into a destination. Cafe 474, near the Fourth Ave. F stop, opened a couple months ago, and they are serving snacks and fair-trade coffee.

It’s about being told not to take pictures at Dean and Deluca last week. What was I going to do, sell them to this place, the Fall Cafe, so that they might add some shiny glass, stainless steel, and marble, and double their prices? The atmosphere here is casual and homey; I can’t see them changing.
