There’s a new deli on Church Avenue. What matters are the banners, which lend a festive feeling to about 20 feet of the block. The grand opening continues as long as the store decides, or until the banners decay and fall down.

Weekends, a few Carroll Gardens Italian delis are grilling food on the sidewalk. Other places have gelato for sale. In some countries, it’s considered rude to eat in public. That isn’t a problem in these parts.
