first round of snow

We’ve had two mini-snowstorms in four days. That’s a lot of snow for December, even if it didn’t really accumulate or stay on the ground long. I walked around a bit and went to a familiar place, the gas station.

The lines are gone and rationing is over. It’s business as usual at the local gas stations.

Many things, when you pause and look, are school-bus yellow: the walk sign, taxis, and the On the Run sign. Inside the store, there are probably also some food products related to cheese that are the same color, but I’ll save that research for another day.

In case you can’t see the bathroom door, men and women have to share the same gas station facility now. It’s a sad state of affairs. Though things look better from the outside, I am not confident that things have improved since the last time I visited a gas station bathroom.

The cashier blamed the distributor for the switch to kosher donuts. Royal is in and Krispy Kreme is out at the On the Run convenience store. I’ll withhold my judgment until my taster gets to work, but these bad boys look more rugged than the Krispies.

Coney Island Avenue is one gas station after another, perfect for a backseat passenger snapping pictures. Are we supposed to be boycotting this brand? Life in Brooklyn is much easier without a car, though the trade-off is time spent on public transportation (see yesterday’s post).
