It’s surreal: the nearly-set sun is brighter than the lights of lower Manhattan. Is this a once-in-a-lifetime event? There are so many questions. Hopefully power will be restored soon.

An hour later it was pouring rain for twenty minutes; I didn’t think that was supposed to happen when the sunset was orange like this. It was still a spectacular day yesterday: cool with low humidity. That’s the Statue of Liberty to the left.

Bloomberg is right; we should stop calling it Ground Zero. Is there another official name for the area yet? Next year there will be a new, tall WTC looming over the other downtown buildings.
Work on Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park is slowly taking shape. A new segment adjacent to Fulton Ferry Landing opened a week ago. Here, you can see what they are working on; eventually the park will stretch all the way down to the multi-storied rectangular building to the right of the picture.
