Near Floyd Bennett Field, this area was the site of rendering plants in the 1800’s then a landfill in the 1900’s. Though the landfill was capped in the 1930’s, trash started spewing in the 1950’s, and that’s where the bottles came from. A surprising number are intact. The beach is fascinating, partly because it’s so accessible.
