The screams from the Cyclone riders are background noise when you’re out at Coney. Saturday the energy level was cranked up extra-high: first there was the Mermaid Parade in the afternoon, and in the evening the minor league baseball team, the Cyclones (the Mets’ “A” league team), had their first home game of the season.

As if the Wonder Wheel, Cyclone, sun and sand, baseball, junk food, and boardwalk weirdos weren’t enough, now there’s a swing ride at the new Luna Park. It’s meant to be reminiscent of the old parachute ride. Luna Park is pricey, jammed with people (crowd flow is non-existent), and you’ll want to visit next time you’re out that way.
