You can catch a view between Carroll Street and Fourth Avenue, but there are construction fences in the way and about a thousand fingerprints on the window. It’s always nice to glimpse the water, though.

The Hamilton Avenue Bridge is under the elevated highway. A tug was pushing a load of metal scrap up the Gowanus Canal. In in picture, what I mostly notice are the grids and lines everywhere.

This site ceased being a picnic spot when they took away the tables. There’s so much NOT going for this place: the Superfunded canal, the scrap yard, the elevated highway, the oil tanks, cars zipping around the lot, and the funky aroma, but look at these blooming trees. They are literally a breath a fresh air and a treat for the eyes.

Look very closely and you’ll notice that there’s no longer a picnic table at the green patch at the base of the Lowe’s sign. That means we’ll have to nominate another unfortunate al fresco dining area as the worst picnic spot in Brooklyn. A picnic table, put there for dining purposes, is the only requirement of the competition.
