From the ye olde publicity department, here’s a photo of the big-sky gas station. The gas wasn’t selling, but the coffee and snacks in the convenience store were.

There are two gas stations in the neighborhood, the name-brand vendor and this one. For the longest time it looked closed, but there was an Open sign on the door and a shadowy figure in the office. If this place was a house, it would be haunted.

The song kept playing, but there were no customers while the Softee truck gassed up. The driver had to get out because the gas tank is in a secret location in the back, by the rainbow sprinkles.

A different view of my favorite gas station. As a non-driver, I buy more coffee than gas from this place.

The price of gas changes so frequently lately some stations don’t bother to post prices. It’s a gray day, so I thought b&w was appropriate. (The monolithic building in the background is Caton Towers on Ocean Parkway.)

In case you can’t see the bathroom door, men and women have to share the same gas station facility now. It’s a sad state of affairs. Though things look better from the outside, I am not confident that things have improved since the last time I visited a gas station bathroom.

Is it a worldwide phenomenon, the urge to eat in the car, or do Americans feel the urge more than most drivers? The price of gas is up for the holiday season; in the city it’s going for $3.29 a gallon, give or take a dime.

Coney Island Avenue is one gas station after another, perfect for a backseat passenger snapping pictures. Are we supposed to be boycotting this brand? Life in Brooklyn is much easier without a car, though the trade-off is time spent on public transportation (see yesterday’s post).

Same gas station, different angle. What’s also different is the tiny figure walking toward the convenience store. No one needs gas at the moment, only junk food and air fresheners. (See previous post here.)

Gas is expensive and junk food is cheap and plentiful. Help yourself to both at this place all hours of the day or night.
