Shocking news: there’s a new coffee shop on Ft. Hamilton Parkway between East 2nd and 3rd Streets. They have good coffee and vegan options. This is important neighborhood news, since Mobil On the Run starting carrying those nasty Royal brand donuts instead of the Krispies, we’ve been looking for options.

Green-Wood is on the right; the bus is front is heading for the Jackie Gleason Bus Depot off Fifth Avenue. It’s a great night to be inside, even if inside is the front seat of a car.

On Fort Hamilton Parkway, amidst the grays, greens, and browns of the landscape, this tree is an albino. It looks extra ghostly because it’s just outside Green-Wood Cemetery. Paper birches are not seen often in NYC.

Some places, these are called UFO or saturn peaches. They’ve been around for hundreds of years in China, but only became popular over the last decade in the US. White-fleshed and with a delicate flavor, consumers are willing to pay more for these novel, flattened fruits.

I stopped by one of my favorite places to take pictures, the Krispy Kreme corner of the On the Run gas station convenience store. (The last picture of this scene I put on the blog in December; I’m practicing restraint.) Today, the trays were put in willy-nilly and have no correlation with the labels. That is no Fudge Iced Kreme Filled! You’ve been warned.
