The price of gas changes so frequently lately some stations don’t bother to post prices. It’s a gray day, so I thought b&w was appropriate. (The monolithic building in the background is Caton Towers on Ocean Parkway.)

Is it a worldwide phenomenon, the urge to eat in the car, or do Americans feel the urge more than most drivers? The price of gas is up for the holiday season; in the city it’s going for $3.29 a gallon, give or take a dime.

If you take the local shuttle bus that is replacing the F and G trains between Jay Street and Church Avenue this weekend, you’ll enjoy a similar smudged view from the seats on the left. The shuttle trains run frequently, but adding this detour to a trip is still a big nuisance.

There’s probably a for rent sign posted on this property out Dahill Road. It’s not easy turning gas stations into other kinds of business. It’s all about cars – fixing, leasing, and gassing them up – around here, anyway.
