There’s a new deli on Church Avenue. What matters are the banners, which lend a festive feeling to about 20 feet of the block. The grand opening continues as long as the store decides, or until the banners decay and fall down.

We’re getting mixed signals, with the red, white, and blue going on at the same time as those other festive colors and lights. These flags will probably stay up way after the newness has worn off the store and the holiday ornaments have long been put away, I have a feeling.
