Women don’t walk into a hair salon and point to a chart, as some men do, and say, “I’d like that one.” Haircut charts for women do exist; they are quite rare, however, and not often posted in the window. The hair-in-the-eyes picture, at top, is just confusing.

They don’t appear to be a very happy bunch. I think haircut charts exist partly to set the scene and decorate the barber shop. Do customers point and say, Gimme one of those?

Back with more haircuts … this barber, on Church Avenue, has the haircut chart framed and hanging inside, protecting it from the sun’s rays. Speaking of the sun, my advice, dudes, is go short for the summer. It’s nice in the NYC heat to feel the breeze on your neck.
