The Brooklyn Navy Yard was open to the public today as part of Open House NY. There were planned events as well as open artists’ studios. Every time I go the Navy Yard, which isn’t very often, it is more user-friendly. There are fences up around falling-down buildings and guards aren’t running around telling you not to go places. I’d advise you to visit before the place is totally spiffed up.

Drivers hate them, as do people wearing heels, but those in need of some ye-olde can come to DUMBO and walk all over the cobblestones.
