Atlantic Avenue in the few blocks between Smith Street and Third Avenue, has three bakeries. It’s inevitable that I sample goods from each. Betty Bakery, seen here, specializes in cakes, but the small shop has cookies, cupcakes, homemade Twinkie-like things, and other sweets.
