As Barclays Center goes up, so does the number of stores for rent in the area. Small boutiques that occupied spaces near Atlantic Mall have vanished over the last two years. We’ll see what the area looks like when the Nets settle in.

This mannequin was out in the sun at a street fair on McDonald Avenue just past Church. It wasn’t clear what group was sponsoring the event, though Bangladeshi groups often use this block. Didn’t see any tube socks for sale.

These mannequins are haughty and aloof, currently attending the plaster figure finishing school, but soon to graduate. Their ambition is to land spots at wax museums. Word among the still-lifes is that Nashville is hiring. (It’s Music Row, but whatever.) The girls can always find positions in shops if they have to. The model in pink has a big plastic fly on her cheek, but she is good! You won’t catch her reacting, I guarantee it.
