It’s a mystery why this poor tree, more than any other on the block, attracts trash to its branches. I easily counted 25 plastic bags; there are probably more up there.

Found object: “It’s our pleasure” coffee cup

The inventor of the Greek-style paper coffee cup, Mr. Leslie Buck, died this past April at age 87. An executive for a paper-cup company, he created the product to sell to NY coffee shops. The cups were a huge, enduring, and sentimental success. I look at this ragged cup and see litter, yes, but it doesn’t bother me quite as much as your usual trash on the sidewalk.
