Gyro Place, seen from the F Train bus

The front of the extra-long bus that was running in lieu of the subway said “F Train” so I’m playing along. Gyro Place is just off Church Avenue, and what’s unique about its facade are the two huge depictions of gyro meat on either side of the green sign. Gyro lovers see these and get hungry? From my bus seat I could also observe pigeons using one of the gyros as a landing pad.

The building owners were using up paint, that’s how the boarded-up windows ended up green. It gives the building personality it wouldn’t otherwise have. I always like birds on a wire, from a safe distance.
