You can catch a view between Carroll Street and Fourth Avenue, but there are construction fences in the way and about a thousand fingerprints on the window. It’s always nice to glimpse the water, though.

The footbridge connecting Eighth Avenue with 20th Street over the Prospect Expressway has an unusual caged-in structure. Though the bridge doesn’t get much usage, the cars below must need protection from people who have an urge to fling things onto traffic.

Steady afternoon rain and no subways

This picture was taken from the bus running nonstop from Jay Street to Church Avenue. The ride wasn’t too bad, except for delays caused by roadwork on the highway. After this weekend, the trains are supposed to run on a normal weekend schedule. The gray view included a gigantic cruise ship docked in Red Hook (it was past by the time my camera was out) and the tops of Home Depot and Jetro.

watching & waiting

Sitting in the car, waiting for my dinner to magically appear. This is 17th Street, between Fourth and Fifth, the sort of block people from Park Slope proper said they’d never move to, but did. The entrance to the Prospect Expressway is on the left, so if you’re walking uphill, stick to the right side and avoid the maniacal drivers picking up speed as they head for the highway.

ft hamilton stop

The Ft. Hamilton stop on the F line is memorable for its ramps (on the Ft. Hamilton side). Outside the station, you won’t encounter any steps, only slopes, some of them quite steep and curvy, and treacherous in winter.
