On a related topic, the weekend thaw of the snow piles has resulted in a surprising amount of garbage and gloves on the sidewalk. I think there’s a connection between the litter and the gloves, but I can’t be sure.

Really, this has got to be, hands-down, Brooklyn’s finest boathouse. It looks more wintery than spring-like, but give it time. There are daffodils blooming in the park right now.

To you… I call it a minimalist sculpture cleverly placed to protect the grass of Prospect Park. There are a number of them, so feel free to call it what you want. Just keep your distance and let it do its job until springtime.

It wasn’t too cold and the view of the fireworks near Second Street was excellent. The New Year’s show in Prospect Park is like the Macy’s 4th of July extravaganza, but miniscule by comparison, not crowded, close to home, and really, much better.

More precipitation, more soggy ground – Prospect Park is closed all day today. Sunny days are forecast, so the snow won’t be sticking around. We need some normal weather to dry out.

And S is for Summer, which is unofficially over, and School Supplies. NYC schools open on Thursday, so it’s time to get some Pens and Pencils, and probably a whole lot more, for the kids.

More GoogaMooga today, from yesterday. The festival organizers wanted to be cool, so they couldn’t call this the Information Tent. The young woman was not doing anything. I was to shy to see if she was an brainiac, there to discuss larger issues like what’s going to happen with Greece, the recession, and will there be a Triple Crown winner this year?

GoogaMooga was a foodie event in Prospect Park that took over the Nethermead and boathouse for the entire weekend. Names from TV were present and tickets were required. There was live music, too. The young ‘uns took off when Hall & Oates took the stage.
