Already, I can feel the cash flying out my pockets this weekend, and I know I’m not alone. This store, on the cool side of Smith Street near Atlantic, could take care of many of your shopping needs, if you like to give pillows, hand-knitted items, and clothing that says Brooklyn on it.

The front of this inflatable Santa looks equally sad, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re driving north or south on Ft. Hamilton Parkway, you’ll have the disappointment of Christmas staring down at you. But as it’s the end of November, statistically there should be some uplifting holiday moments ahead of you this season. Here’s hoping.

Dyker Heights it ain’t, but sometimes you take what you can get. Santa is looking down on Frosty, enjoying his exalted position and the knowledge that weather, thaws, and rain will never bring him down. The snowman is happy and oblivious, for he’ll be back again someday.

Under the elevators and below street level, Santa’s set up shop at Atlantic Mall. Few know about this strange Brooklyn-style North Pole, where it’s so warm that Santa’s helpers and elves wear little clothing. Friendly Santa wanders around  his workshop, wraps his arm around onlookers’ shoulders and says, “Go ahead, take a picture.”
