Morrie Yohai, inventor of the Cheez Doodle, died on July 27. The fluffy cornmeal tubes with the cheddar dusting have been around since the late 1950’s. (I think the crunchy Cheez Doodles were an industrial accident that proved to have consumer appeal.) Brooklyn consumes its fair share of the things. (It wasn’t three weeks ago I mentioned Cheez Doodles in the blog – without Doodles, the balls would not exist.)

Pork rinds were lacking something, and now we know what it was – lime and chili flavor. Given the immigration patterns in the US plus the general love of snack foods and pork products, this union was inevitable.
