Cinderella and Dora the Explorer, two cartoon girl-women that couldn’t be further apart personality-wise, came together as playing cards on a Sunset Park sidewalk. Ironically, Cinderella, from the 1950 movie, has a body that is more realistic, proportionally, while the cheerful Dora, who didn’t come along for another fifty years, is burdened by a gigantic head and abbreviated body.

There may not be dozens of restaurants called La Isla Cuchifritos – as there are Ray’s pizza – but there are a handful competing to be number one in the cuchifrito category. In case you don’t know, cuchifritos, traditional fried pork dishes, are a favorite of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. This restaurant, in Sunset Park, is not as well-known as others, but you can get your fill of morcilla, chicharron, and other things.

They cleared the pool when it started raining, but when it stopped after a few minutes, no one was eager to jump back in. It’s 80 and breezy and we’re not complaining a bit. Well, it is a little humid….

Someone snatched up the base of the lamp and left this beaut of a shade. It’s in fine working condition, and you may want to grab it, because if you don’t, you may see it on someone else’s head tonight.

Inside this tattoo parlor, two guys sit in an unadorned room at a folding table, under fluorescent lights, waiting for customers. Maybe one does the tattooing and the other, the removal. If the place doesn’t get some atmosphere fast, they will likely be out of business soon.

Is this not a reality show waiting to happen? The name and set are taken care of; all that’s needed are some moderately photogenic people who want to be on TV. That’s no prob finding those. It’s a go!

This almost looks like a black and white picture with color added. It’s a very gray weekend. You need to walk down to Fifth Ave. to get some neon color, but if just a spot will do you, I offer up this light blue wading pool.

This side yard has it both ways:  it’s neat and tidy and packed with ornamentation. Halloween and Christmas are covered, then there’s the Americana, represented by the wagon wheel and the cement deer. Makes me wish there were more lawns in the County of Kings. It’s an open palette, waiting for folding chairs, croquet, and more animals, of course.
