Goorin Brothers is a small chain. They’ve been in business for over a hundred years, but only in Brooklyn since hipsters needed hats. Let me amend that – when guys began buying hats in stores like this, other people were already putting big, fat quotation marks around the word “hipster.” Go looking for your own style; if you don’t have one, then boldly come back to this shop.

The Brooklyn Indie Market tent, in Carroll Gardens, looks circus-like after dark. Open on weekends, it’s a venue for emerging designers to sell their wares. Support your local artisans this holiday season – check it out online ahead of time (brooklynindiemarket.com).
